Bingo tax in Catalonia to be reduced from 28% to 25%

Category: General

Bingo tax in Catalonia, which is the highest in Spain, will be reduced by 3 percent next year, coming down from 28% to 25%. However, gambling operators in the region say that this still is not enough of a deduction, at a time when the sales from bingo halls have seen a 14.56% drop.

Bingo operators AEJEA, ASCABIN y Gremi have had meetings with representatives from the department of Finance and Economy from the Generalitat and with the Director General of Gambling Mercè Claramunt and due to these efforts the Catalan authorities have agreed to the tax reduction. Despite not being satisfied that the cut is enough, the operators have nonetheless cooperated with regional government and offered their expert opinion on where the 3 % reduction can be regained.

Catalonia has the highest fiscal rates in the whole of Spain. A reduction in tax has long been demanded by the bingo sector and is considered vital for survival by gambling operators in the region.
